‘Though the singer is silent, there still is the truth of the song’

Higher Ground Australia was established in October 2001 in Victoria, Australia. We held our first John Denver tribute weekend in the beautiful Grampians region, where a group of virtual strangers met for the first time to celebrate the life and music of John Denver.  A letter swap was arranged with the people attending the Tribute in Aspen Colorado, and a tree was planted in John’s honour.  We sang the songs that we loved.  Some fourteen years later we still meet on the weekend that coincides with that in Aspen Colorado, we still swap letters, and we still plant a tree to honour John, and we still sing.  

Since 2002, we have held an annual silent auction to raise money to donate to eagle rehabilitation centres in Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland.  In that time we have raised and donated more than $7000.
